Good to be back at Great Haywood Marina after a four month break, another new knee, some diabolical weather and a stream of bad luck with cars, fridges, printers and cats all deciding to self destruct in a short space of time, leaving the coffers severely depleted.
We have been planning to come up for the last few weeks but snow and freezing weather delayed us. I was surprised to see some snow still lurking beside the M6 toll road despite a general thaw.
We are busy giving the Great Escape a check over after her lonely winter vigil waiting for us and spring to return. Today we cleaned out the water tank with bleach and refilled it twice. 600 litres turns out to be a lot more water than I anticipated, but hopefully we haven't poisoned ourselves. We will probably go out for a few days to charge up the batteries and remind ourselves why we bought her in the first place.Nice to see some familiar faces and saddened to learn that Richard who worked here last year has moved on to pastures new. A real loss: what he didn't know about boats, and especially painting them, wasn't worth knowing. We wish him well.
